Listen to This! playlist for 06/29/2016

Expanding your musical horizons, this show started off with a brief tribute to Mack Rice, member of The Falcons and writer of songs such as "Mustang Sally". We then went into a snapshot of new music that's come in to WUSB since our last show, featuring bands such as Sonny & The Sunsets and Big Thief. The beginning of the second hour started with another musical tribute, this time to bluegrass legend Ralph Stanley, who passed away earlier this week. The second half of the show highlighted up and coming artists from around the internet.

We will look at the fossil fuel industry and their EPA enablers. We will focus on climate and energy activism using case studies of increased concern for natural gas.

Joining us will be Jim Warren. Jim is the executive director of NC WARN, a Durham, NC-based climate and energy justice nonprofit. During his tenure, the science-based advocacy group has assisted communities in successful grassroots struggles against toxic and nuclear waste facilities. The group serves as a watchdog of Charlotte-based Duke Energy, and its urgent mission is to shift the megacorporation’s business model away from fossil fuels and toward renewables and efficiency.
