Our annual celebration of Bob Dylan's birthday (he'll be 71 this Thursday)and the 50th anniversary of the release of his first album. Last night, at The University Cafe, Pete and Maura Kennedy, Rod MacDonald, Russ Seeger, Steve Kaplan, Brian Kachejian, and special guest Caroline Doctorow, did an amazing concert of Dylan songs spanning this fifty year career.

2012 also marks the 45th anniversary of the release of JOHN WESLEY HARDING and the 45th anniversary of the recording of THE BASEMENT TAPES, so today's program noted these milestones as well.

Today's program remembered Chris Ethridge, bass player for The Flying Burrito Brothers, and Pete Fornatale, long-time New York city area radio host, both of whom passed on earlier this week. Norm Prusslin, former General Manager of WUSB, joined us to share memories of Pete Fornatale.

We debuted several tracks from a forthcoming, much-awaited album (TANGERINE) from Louise Taylor, played some songs for "Earth Day" and sadly noted the passing of Levon Helm and Dick Clark.

We featured tracks from new releases by Nanci Griffith and Bonnie Raitt, played some "Titanic" songs, and finished our involvement in WUSB's spring radiothon. James Maddock stopped by for an in-studio visit in which he did two of his songs live. He went on to play a terrific concert with keyboardist Oli Rockberger at The University Cafe in the Sunday Street Acoustic Series to a sold-out house.
