"The Kinks Unkovered" world premiere on Sunday Street on WUSB-FM April 11th (9 AM until 11:30 AM)

Hard to believe that The Kinks have been the subject of only two tribute albums, despite a lengthy history of turning out extraordinary music. That all changes with the forthcoming release of "the kinks unkovered" from Long Island's Paradiddle Records, the label who began the "uncovered" series with 2006's "Bob Dylan Uncovered."

On Sunday morning, April 11th, we'll play some tracks from this release which features Maura Kennedy and a "who's who" of Long Island-based musicians. Caroline Doctorow, James O'Malley, The Lone Sharks, Mary Lamont, Russ Seeger, Hank Stone, Katie Pearlman, Johnny Cuomo, Claudia Jacobs, Patrick Costello, Ghosts of Electricity, The Corduroy Sky, Iridesense, Smile Pretty Misery, and The Blaggards all contributed a track to this project.

Kinks classics like "Dandy" and "Celluloid Heroes" are included in the collection but so are lesser-known songs like "Autumn Almanac" and "Willesdon Green" from the extensive Kinks catalogue.

Russ Seeger, represented on the CD by "Who'll Be The Next In Line" and album producer Bill Herman join me in the studio. WUSB listeners will have the opportunity to make a pledge of support during the program and receive a copy of "kinks unkovered" as a premium.

Sunday Street is heard from 9 AM until 11:30 AM on WUSB-FM (90.1fm and wusb.fm) and is hosted by Charlie Backfish
