Ingrid Bergman: In Her Own Words director, Stig Bjorkman, will be Tom Needham's special guest this Thursday at 6 P.M. on The Sounds of Film on WUSB. The show will also highlight some of the incredible music featured in multiple Disney films and television shows released over these past several months.

Interested in becoming a DJ on the air at WUSB? Join our summer training program!
The course includes a one-hour weekly tech training which is hands-on in one of our studios in the Stony Brook University Student Union and one longer classroom session that goes over FCC and station policies and protocols. Trainees are also paired with a seasoned DJ who can give them a taste of what it is like to program a show on the air.
The course is open to SBU students and members of the community alike.

August 10, 6-8 PM: Country Music Star Phil Vassar on Tom Needham's the Sounds of Film

County music superstar Phil Vassar will be Tom Needham's special guest this Thursday at 6 P.M. on WUSB's the Sounds of Film. Phil will be speaking about his recent acting experience in the comedy Chasing Taste. The film follows a down-and-out writer who is transformed overnight into NYC's next big food critic before a freak accident robs him of his senses of taste smell. In order to keep his new-found fame, he relies on a team of super "smellers" and tasters to fake his reviews. Chasing Taste, directed by Sean Gannet, is the winner of Best Comedy Film at both the 2013 Burbank International Film Festival and the 2014 Manhattan Film Festival.

Captain Phil's Planet will air an exclusive interview with Andrew Aydin, co author (with Congressman John Lewis) of the #1 New York Times bestselling graphic novel series March, drawn by Nate Powell.
March just won an Eisner Award at the San Diego Comic con. In this interview recorded last April at the East Coast Comic Con Andrew discusses who he came to work with John Lewis, what it was like to be a comic book fan in a congressional office and how March came to be. Also Andrew will discuss the day in the summer of 2015 when Congressman John Lewis decided to CosPlay at the San Diego Comic Con.

WUSB BENEFEST 2016

The 2016 WUSB BENEFEST is a two day music festival, being hosted by Katie’s of Smithtown, to help raise operating and equipment funds for Long Island’s largest non-commercial radio station, WUSB 90.1 FM. Thirty Seven bands, and solo artists will be performing to help support the station that has played their music, and the music of countless others for the past 39 years!

Thursday, 7/28, 6 PM: Salman Ahmad and Dr. Larry Brilliant on Sound of Film

Rock Star Salman Ahmad and producer, Dr. Larry Brilliant, will be joining Tom Needham on the Sounds of Film this Thursday at 6 P.M. on WUSB. They will be speaking about their work on HBO's Open Your Eyes, a heartfelt and uplifting documentary about doctors restoring sight to villagers who have been blind for decades in Himalayan mountains of Nepal.

Cast of Richard Linklater's "Everybody Wants Some" Talkin' Baseball with Tom Needham on the Sounds of Film

Everybody Wants Some's Glen Powell and J. Quinton Johnson, and directors John Putch and Lee Wilkof, whose films are playing at the Stony Brook Film Festival, will be Tom Needham's special guests this Thursday (7/14) at 6 P.M. on WUSB's The Sounds of Film.

There will be two screenings at the Stony Brook Film Festival.
