Douglas McGrath and DJ Kool Herc Join Tom Needham on the Sounds of Film

American writer, director and actor, Douglas McGrath, will be Tom Needham's special guest this Thursday at 6 PM on the Sounds of Film. They will be discussing his appearance in PBS' American Masters - Carole King: Natural Woman.

Also on the program is hip-hop legend DJ Kool Herc, who will be part of the Cinema Arts Centre's Black History Month festivities on Friday, February 19, at 9:30 PM.

Hip-hop legend Kurtis Blow will be Tom Needham's special guest this Thursday at 6 P.M. on The Sounds of Film Show on WUSB 90.1 FM. They will be discussing his upcoming induction into the Hip Hop Hall of Fame in April. Kurtis Blow is well known for his classic songs "Christmas Rappin'," "The Breaks," "Basketball," and "If I Ruled the World." He was the first commercially successful rapper who was signed to a major record deal. Throughout his career, he released 15 albums. He also starred in the popular film, Krush Groove, with RUN-D.M.C. Shelia E., and the Fat Boys. In 2014, he was inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame.
