Our featured guest is Philip Romero, professor of finance at the Univ. of Oregon, where he previously served as business dean. He is former Chief Economist, State of California. During the Cold War, Romero was a defense policy specialist at the RAND Corporation, where he worked for the secretary of defense, the CIA, and the U.S. Air Force and Army. From 1991 to 1999, Romero served as California's chief economist.

He was an adviser to Bush’s 2000 and 2004 campaigns. He served more recently as is Dean of the College of Business and Economics at Cal State LA. Romero is co-author of six books. His latest is "How to Protect Your Money from the End of the American Empire", forthcoming in 2010. He earned a Ph.D. and M.A. in Policy Analysis from the RAND Graduate School.
