LINE UP 12:00 Jeff Bauman WUSB Transmitter Problems Please help with your DonationHello everyone thanks for listening and supporting WUSB all year . We need an extra little bit of help right now , all the storms have caused some parts to fail at our tower site . This means we are operating at low power and may not come in in your neighborhood right now on the 90.1 fm station but you can hear everything here on our website until everything is fixed. Our great engineer Frank is working on getting us back up to full power as soon as all the parts arrive. In the mean time we need to purchase a back up transmitter which costs from $4000 to $5000 dollars . So any extra dollars you can send our way would help WUSB out a lot, to make it easy you can donate right here http://www.wusb.fm/pledge or call 631-632-9872 (WUSB) Thank you again and we hope you can crank us up to full power again in your community real soon ! Keep Listening ~ Best Regards , Isobel WUSB General Manager “Keep Me In Your Heart: a Long Island musicians’ tribute to Warren Zevon”By Angelo on Mon, 02/17/2014 - 9:07pm
“Keep Me In Your Heart: a Long Island
musicians’ tribute to Warren Zevon”
Saturday, April 5th,
8 P.M.
(a benefit for WUSB-FM at the University Cafe)
![]() singer/songwriter Warren Zevon (1947- 2003) who was known for the dark and rather bizarre sense of humor in the lyrics of many of his songs, as well as ballads of great beauty and grace. Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, and Jackson Browne are among those who have cited the brilliance of Zevon’s work, and on television, David Letterman featured Zevon on many of his programs including a final visit in late 2002 in which Zevon was the guest for the entire program. Among Zevon’s better known songs are: “Poor Poor Pitiful Me” (a big hit for Linda Ronstadt), “Werewolves of London,” “Carmelita,” “Hasten Down the Wind,” “Lawyers, Guns and Money,” and “Johnny Strikes Up The Band.”
To celebrate Zevon’s music, Paradiddle Records and The
Sunday Street Acoustic Series have brought together some of this area’s top musicians. The house band for the evening includes guitarist and fiddle player, Russ Seeger, bass player Dave March (of Miles To Dayton) drummer Bill Herman and a special guest keyboard player. Bob “Hootch” Paolucci will also join in on harp.
Guest artists who will share their interpretations of
Zevon’s songs include Kerry Kearney, Cindy Lopez, Claudia Jacobs, and Pete Mancini (of Butchers Blind). And of course look for other surprise guests for this special evening. Paradiddle Records will be recording the show for a possible release. Both well-known as well as more obscure songs from the extensive Zevon catalogue will be featured .
Proceeds from the show will benefit WUSB-FM .
